Jason Rashaad · A Day In The Life, in full

Me &

I built this.

I built the thing I needed. Dialysis to a half-marathon in eighteen months taught me the hard part was never the training. It was everything around it.

“I look better than your dad” is a joke I kept making until it stopped being one. It’s the short version of a longer claim: the change is available, it isn’t reserved for people who started earlier or got luckier, and the frame around the work matters more than the work.

The frame is a line a day and a Look Back every Saturday: what I said I’d do, next to what I did. Every page below is that, from my own records.

  • 26 races since 2013.
  • Five years sober on November 1.
  • Ardmore, PA, a long walk from a Wawa. Da Nang this winter.

You don’t need twenty years. Six weeks will do.
